Municipalities manage built assets including roads, pipes and buildings with inventories, condition ratings and replacement costs. Forests, wetlands and watercourses within municipal boundaries deliver services such as stormwater attenuation, water filtration and flood protection yet these natural assets are frequently not managed in the same way built assets are.
